At Logan Healthy Living, fostering a warm and supportive community is one of our core values.
We deeply appreciate the vibrant and genuine community that flourishes within Logan Healthy Living. In addition, we actively engage with the broader community and encourage our participants to get involved in local events and programs as well.
Check out what we’ve been up to below.
UQ Vice Chancellor’s Regional Roundtable visit to Logan

World Diabetes Day 2024
In support of World Diabetes Day, we recently partnered with Diabetes Australia for two activities in the Logan region.
For the first event we hosted Diabetes Australia and local community members living with type 2 diabetes, for a roundtable discussion on access to diabetes technology supports. The group had a robust and insightful discussion. These roundtable events were held across Australia, advocating for better access to technology, including continuous glucose monitoring for people with type 2 diabetes.
The second event was an activation station providing free health checks, held in the Logan Hyperdome Shopping Centre. Diabetes Australia recently launched a free membership program called ‘Diabetes YOUnited‘, which provides a space for peer support and information sharing for people across Australia living with diabetes. Logan Healthy Living’s Clinical Manager Denny went along to support the Diabetes Australia initiative and promote Logan Healthy Living to the local community.
Logan Healthy Living Morning Tea
We hold a deep appreciation for the genuine community that thrives within Logan Healthy Living and our recent morning tea event was a testament to the community we have created together.
We’re thrilled to share that we had an incredible turnout with over 45 clients and many staff and students in attendance.
We are very grateful to all who attended and made this event so special.
It’s moments like these that help strengthen the Logan Healthy Living Family.
Work Inspiration program
Logan Healthy Living invited 20 students to the clinic from Mabel Park State School as part of the Smith Family’s Work Inspiration Reach Out Program.
This program encourages students to learn more about themselves and how their personality attributes may align with career profiles, see roles of an organisation in action behind the scenes, and speak with a range of people about their career journey. The students participated in clinical prevention education, 1 on 1 discussions with the students and staff of LHL, and got the chance to do some practical skills related to healthcare and health promotion.

Headspace expo
Our Clinic Manger Denny, had the privilege of participating in an expo hosted by Headspace Meadowbrook.
This event was dedicated to fostering connections among service providers and offering valuable career advice and support to the young community accessing services at Headspace Meadowbrook.
We are grateful to be a part of initiatives that empower and inspire the community!
Healthcare careers information and Q&A session for high school students
Logan Healthy Living hosted an enlightening healthcare careers, information and Q&A session, with students from Loganlea State High School.
This is part of Logan Healthy Living’s focus on workforce development and finding ways to connect more actively with the education sector in the local area. During this event, we shared inspiring career journeys and offered valuable insights into the exciting opportunities within the healthcare industry.
The session provided students, with an interest in entering a career in health, a space to pose questions and gain a deeper understanding of the diverse career pathways within healthcare and the real impact that health promotion/prevention can have on people’s wellbeing.
We had such a fantastic time! It was an engaging experience, with students actively participating and asking numerous thoughtful questions. We are optimistic that we succeeded in broadening their knowledge of the industry and hope to have instilled inspiration for a career within the healthcare sector.
2024 Queensland Prevention Symposium
Denny Giguere, the Clinical and Operations Manager here at Logan Healthy Living participated in the Queensland Prevention Symposium.
The symposium presented by Health and Wellbeing Queensland in partnership with Queensland Health, highlighted the work being done to make healthy happen across clinical and community environments, in partnership with all levels of government, academia, community and social sectors.
The Symposium drew on the experiences of our communities and our delivery partners, along with a variety of invited international and national speakers and panelists to recognise the capability, passion and commitment of Queenslanders who are working hard to drive better outcomes for their population and support the health of our State.
Symposium session content was relevant to policy makers, practitioners, advocates and stakeholders, consumers, educators, and community leaders.
Site visit from the Chief Medical Officer of Queensland Health
In October 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting the Chief Medical Officer of Queensland Health, Dr Catherine McDougall at Logan Healthy Living. She was able to see the program in action, discuss the work we’re doing for the community with our Clinical and Operations Manager Denny, and connect with participants to learn about the positive impact Logan Healthy Living has had on them.
Lisa, a participant at Logan Healthy Living shared her experience with Dr Catherine. “It has completely changed my life. I came here a year ago and I couldn’t walk without someone holding onto me. Look at me now!” said Lisa.
In response Catherine McDougall says, “You were beaming Lisa, and I could tell the [Logan Healthy Living] team share in your joy!”
Dr. Catherine described Logan Healthy Living as a great collaboration involving UQ Health Care, The University of Queensland, Health and Wellbeing Queensland, and Griffith University, which focuses on the prevention and management of chronic diseases while emphasizing real consumer empowerment.
